Two deals that have already shocked the footballing world were made by the same Spanish league football club, Real Madrid. On 8th June 2009, Real Madrid completed the signing of Brazilian Kaka, for a world record breaking fee of £56 million, beating their previous world record transfer of £46 million for Zinedine Zidane from Juventus back in 2001.

If that wasn’t a statement of intent, three days later, they had a bid of £80 million accepted by Manchester Utd for World and European Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. The player is keen to join Real Madrid and the move is expected to be completed by the end of June 2009.

Over the past five seasons, the Sky 4 English clubs (Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal) have all dominated the European football scene. Liverpool (winners 2005, runners up 2007), Arsenal (finalists 2006), Manchester Utd (winners 2008, finalists 2009) and Chelsea (finalists 2008) show their strength in the competition.

So it really comes as a shock that Real Madrid, who last won the Champions League way back in 2002 are able to outlay these two massive record breaking fees within a week.

Their performances in their own league have been poor in comparison to their great forebears (they’ve only won their league 3 times in the past 11 years, which by their standards is very poor) and they have often struggled in the Champions League of late.

By taking the world’s greatest player in Ronaldo from their great rivals Man Utd, really puts out a statement of intent from Real Madrid. They will at least on paper, look a real force and with Kaka in their midfield, they promise to get back to the former great Galatico era of the nineties.

From a league perspective, it could have further ramifications. Players who would otherwise automatically aim to head for the English Premiership, may now be having second thoughts as they see these two great players head for Spain. Certainly the money in Spain (in terms of wages) isn’t as great as in England, but that may be secondary for many players whose first aim is to play football.

In the week leading up to the transfers, Steven Pienaar, a top player for 5th placed Everton has made noises about wanting to move to Spain sometime in the future. The Spanish league is well renowned for being a technical league, as opposed to the high octane, high tempo Premier League, and this fact may further tempt the more skilful player away from English shores.

The net effect of course, will be a lowering of standards in the English league and the dominance of the aforementioned Sky 4 will slowly wilt as the Spanish clubs fight back. In fact one Spanish club already has fought back by beating Manchester Utd in the 2009 Champions League final.

Ironically, this could save the English Premiership from really becoming stagnant as the same four clubs have finished in the top four spots for the majority of the 2000′s. It has become boring and predictable. With Utd losing their top player, and the fact they have big debts to pay may mean their manager will not get the full £80 million to spend. Liverpool, whose American owners are in serious financial trouble, may have to sell assets and become weaker, while Arsenal have never really been able to keep up financially with the others. It’s only Chelsea who still looks strong and no doubt will strengthen again.

Will the balance of power shift to Spain? Next season we will find out.

Although we can be spectators of a tremendous quantity of sport events, there is one, which is preferred from almost one hundred percents of the planet’s population, the football. As we know this is a game, which is more, watched from the male part, but there are women who also love to observe this sport, especially when their favorite footballer is playing. Taking into account that most of the players are males, the interest in the football from the female part of the humankind is an obvious evidence for the significance of this remarkable game. So in the sense of the women’s desire to observe definite football athlete, I want to introduce the best ones of the Spanish football.

It is quite acquainted for every lover of football, that one of the best club championships and one if the best existent nationalities in the realm of the football is Spain. As far as the female class is concerned, the Spanish footballers are the hottest and prettiest in the World. However, firstly I want to begin with one player who is trying to save his gate dry and clean every single match of its national and club team. I know that you know for whom I am talking about, nevertheless, I will tell his name Iker Cassias. This is one very class goalkeeper, player of Real Madrid, whose skills cannot be put under doubt, because they are remarkable and unreachable from the biggest part of the other goalkeepers. He manages to lead the Spanish team in many matches without passed goal. He is already more than ten years in the national team, the same can be told about his presence on the titular place in Real Madrid. In his club, we manage to win two Champion Leagues (the most renowned and respected European club tournament) titles and four more in the Spanish championship. Towards all this can be add many other awards of different national and international tournaments.

The second footballer, who deserves many good words is David Villa. This is one extraordinary player, who has behind his back many awards won. Examples for that are the cups won by Valencia on national and international level, thankfulness for shown efficiency, awards for the most valuable footballer and the highest scorer in the Spanish championship and more others. Indeed, after many years Valencia is in the best club team in the World at this moment, Barcelona. Villa plays as a left outside, but in this great team he has options to play shoulder by shoulder with the biggest name of the football in planet measure, Lionel Messi.

Numancia vs. Getafe On this past Sunday, January 11th journey, CD Numancia achieved to ascend in the general standings after winning 2-0 before Getafe, that loses for the third consecutive time and descends little by little in the table. On this occasion, the ‘Rojillos’ from Numancia took the lead from the beginning of the match and kept it during most of the first part; besides had the advantage of playing with one more man, due to the early sending-off the field of Roberto Abbondanzieri, which destabilized Getafe’s game strategy. With such situation, Víctor Muñoz, trainer of the ‘Azulones’, tried to make several changes to survive, but the domain by Numancia, in spite that close to the closure if the event lowed the rhythm, was always superior. Real Betis vs. Málaga Since the launch of the game, the control was very even between both teams; on their part Real Betis fought with only nine players because 2 of their men were send off, the first was the defender Melli during the first half. This punishment made the ‘Green-Whites’ lose their concentration for a moment, however before the end of the first 45 minutes, Betis managed to tied the scoreboard. From the start of the second half the ‘Béticos’ took charge getting closer and closer to the contrary box; in the middle of the second part came the expulsion of Achille Emaná, aspect that did not affected them, instead it gave them strength to carry on firmly until, starting extra time, Málaga scored their winning goal. Mallorca vs. Real Madrid Here, Real Madrid utilized most of their best starting players and arrived powerful to confront a Mallorca unable to stop them. The star of the encounter was doubtless, Madrid’s striker Arjen Robben, author of the first goal, whom with great skills figured out how to surpass the rival’s defense, turning into a big threat for Mallorca. In less than 15 minutes we saw Raúl scored the second, leaving Real with a 2-0 by the time of the break. During the second period, the locals from Parma de Mallorca tried to modify their strategy but it was worthless in front of the Merengues’ attack, that might not have been an astonishing spectacle, but it allowed them to control the ball. In charge of closing the scoring was Sergio Ramos, who marked the third for the 3-0. The victory pushes the Whites up to the second position of the general standings, giving them the chance to reach Barça and defend their champion’s title, while leaves Mallorca on the red spots. Atlético Madrid vs. Athletic Bilbao Once again the effects of the football crisis that the Atlético Madrid is going through were clearly seen in the field. On this occasion the ‘Colchoneros’ had a weak performance and played at a low competitive level against Athletic Bilbao, who on the contrary showed off before their misfortune opponent. This is the seventh triumph in a row for Bilbao’s team, which during the whole match were leading. The consistency with which the Lions played, gave them the enough confidence to feel comfortable playing as visitors in the Vicente Calderón. The slow motion of the ‘Red-Whites’ was the decisive factor that took them to lose with the 3-2 and that showed their weakness. Sporting Gijón vs. Valladolid This couple has been having similar problems, since Sporting has had the worst results playing at home, while Valladolid hasn’t attain such a good results out of theirs. So for their past Sunday encounter, in which Sporting was the host and Valladolid were guests, both groups arrived searching for a winning to break their respective deceptions chains. In consequence Valladolid started completely concentrated in the battle ahead and remained that way for most of the first 45-minutes-period, although certainly with no real alarming moves. A mistake in the defense of the ‘Pucelas’ gave the ‘Red-Whites’ the opportunity to make their first goal, that few minutes later was followed by the second; the ‘Pucelanos’ made their only score within minutes to the end. Racing Santander vs. Recreativo Huelva These two clubs could not exceed the tie (1-1) in a match that had nothing incredible going on, but in which the visitors (Recreativo de Huelva) were obviously playing better than their adversary. The Recre played more lucidly and dominant, however couldn’t make the most of their good control of the ball, losing numerous opportunities to score against a distracted Racing, which made several mistakes and was pretty motionless in their game, opposite to its rival that never stopped looking for the untied Espanyol vs. Almería Another pair with draw was this one, which finished 2-2. Almería was the opener of the scoreboard, what made us suspect that their rivals would hit back strongly, but it didn’t happened, instead the ‘Periquitos’ were demotivated and without a clear strategy. It wasn’t until the second half that Espanyol started to press on Almería, who made a second goal. From that moment on both teams fought with all their efforts trying to score another goal; and would be the Espanyol the one to achieve it on the 90 minute. Osasuna vs. Barcelona Barcelona, the reigning leader of La Liga, demonstrated all over again their power by defeating 3-2 to Osasuna that could not surpass them. Barça lightened the scoreboard at the 45 minutes thanks to Samuel Eto’o. For second part, the ‘Little Reds’ change their attitude and fighting fearless added 2 goals to the match with a difference of nine minutes between them. But facing the incident Xavi and Lionel Messi took charge of the situation and defending their team with excellent moves, each set on fire the net of their enemy.

With a big 6-2 score, the Barcelona imposed themselves to the Real Madrid in the 34 Day of the Spanish league, taking away every possibility of catching up with them or having a spot in the great finale in which the absolute leader of La Liga will be defined. The championship currently belongs to Real Madrid but the team is starting to feel very near how the title is slipping through their hands.

After this crushing victory, Barça has increased their lead to a 7 points gap from the Real Madrid and continues at the top of the general standings with 85 points, fact that makes easy to foresee that the Blaugranas are going to be the future Spain champions. This would fulfill them with glory and would place them back in the championships winners list, after two years of not appearing on it.

Throughout the current season, the team leaded by Josep Guardiola has managed to stand out in such an amazing fashion that has earned the honor of being named by many as the best Barça team of all times, due to their great performance and their high level of competiveness shown either in domestic tournaments as the La Liga or the Copa del Rey as well as in European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, in where they have been able to demonstrate and impose a superiority that place them among the best football clubs of the world.

This time, the Clásico of Spain started with the team leaded by Juande Ramos opening the score at minute 14 with a goal by Gonzalo Higuaín, which thrilled the Real Madrid fans and made everyone think that the match would go for the local team. But that did not happen. On the contrary, this first goal was the spark that strokes the Barça team, visitors at the Santiago Bernabeu, which with an extraordinary line up set by the boss Guardiola using all the star players of the squad, did not let their opponents to move forward.

From then on, the culés could dedicate to make a great display of the talent and skills they have as a team, moving quickly to Iker Casillas’ area, where at minute 18 the Frenchman Thierry Henry put the first of the six goals that Barça scored, humiliating Real Madrid. The pressure they were putting on the local team was getting bigger and bigger, scaring them and making them lose their pace while Barcelona knew how to take advantage of this and just two minutes later, another goal came by Carlos Puyol at the 20’.

As the match passed by, the merengues seemed disoriented and Barça had an absolute control over everything that was going on at the field. It was then when it the middle of the elation of the moment, Lionel Messi appeared to put the score 3-1 before the half time. When the game restarted, the tension kept the Real Madrid very worried, willing to get in front of Victor Valdes area and the opportunity came at minute 56 when Sergio Ramos put the score 2-3, giving some hope to his team. But right after that, their opponents reacted and at minute 58, Thierry Henry marked the fourth goal of the cule squad.

The frustration of the Real Madrid was obvious and had a negative impact on the team whereas Barcelona kept pressuring them without mercy. Some minutes later, Messi came back with the fifth goal at minute 75, devastating completely the Madrid team which since that moment were defenseless and even allowed one more goal – the sixth – when there were only 7 minutes left to play.

That way the 154th Spanish Derby came to an end, whit the Real Madrid being completely humiliated and overplayed by a Barcelona team that excelled themselves and made clear that they’re not planning to lose this opportunity to become champions of the Spanish League.
