Fall is just around the corner, and that means the return to school, shorter days, and of course, football season. Millions of Americans plan to watch their favorite high school, college, and professional football teams duke it out on fields throughout the nation. Of course, successful seasons can be attributed to not only the players but the fans as well. If you want to make sure that your community enjoys the best season possible, you should plan on using promotional products. Let’s take a look at some of the ways promotional products can make your football season a success and bring the fans closer together.
Increase Attendance: One of the best things about home field advantage is having your stands erupt into a deafening roar after a big play. But to get your stands bursting at the seams, it’s important to use a strategy that people have been using for ages–promotional products. Well designed promotional products promise football aficionados that they will have other tools available besides their voices to remain energetic during the game and pump up the team. No matter what specific product you decide to use, fans will appreciate that you are encouraging a close-knit culture within the sport of football. Everyone loves free stuff, and you can be sure that your attendance numbers will rise once you incorporate promotional products into your marketing strategy.
Promote Team Spirit: Going to a football game is about more than what happens on the field, it’s an experience that brings families, children, and friends together. When a stadium full of people are rooting for the same team, you know that you are part of a community. By giving out boom boom sticks, custom cushions, and promotional apparel, you cultivate team pride and make viewers feel as though they are part of the game. Fans will be able to easily recognize one another, and it’s sure to put people into the game day mindset.
Don’t let your football team down this season. Make sure that your stands have more spirit than the competition by using promotional products. Your team’s fan base will increase, brand awareness will spread, and people will appreciate your concentrated promotional efforts that show you care about the community.
The year 1966 marked the 9th season of the existence of the Canadian Football League. While this was only the 9th official season of the league, there were 4 years previous that the beginning of the CFL that Canadian football had existed.
The year 1966 brought a few changes to the league. The sport was a work in progress, like all sports, and the rules evolved over time in order to adapt to unforeseen circumstances that arose after the beginning of the league. This year featured a major rule change that would change the way that people could block. Previously there were limits to how much blocking could be done on rushing plays. 1966 brought a rule in which there were no limits on how much blocking could be done on each run play. There was also a change in the goal posts. They were changed to a goose-necked style of post.
The regular season in the CFL featured one Conference that was clearly dominant over the other. The Eastern Football Conference was simply a notch above the Western Football Conference during the regular season.
These two divisions played different amounts of games due to the number of teams in each conference. There were just 4 teams in the Eastern Football Conference. Meanwhile there were 5 teams in the Western Football Conference.
The worst team in the Eastern Conference was the Toronto Argonauts. The Argonauts managed to win just 5 games on the season while dropping 9. This team struggled, but they were the only team that really struggled in the Eastern Conference. The Argonauts were the only team in the Eastern Conference that had a record that was worse than .500.
The Montreal Alouettes were the 3rd place team in the conference and finished with a 7-7 record on the season. This record was good enough for a playoff berth. The Alouettes weren’t quit the caliber of the other teams in the Eastern Conference, but they were still on par with just about all of the other teams in the Western Conference.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats managed to win 9 of their 14 games on the season and had the 2nd best record in the league in 1966. Although they had the 2nd best record in all of the CFL, they were still only able to land a 2nd place finish in the regular season. The top record would go to the Ottawa Rough Riders with 11 wins and 3 losses.
The Western Conference would send the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Edmonton Eskimos to the playoffs after they finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The Ottawa Roughriders managed to push through the playoffs towards the Grey Cup after they had such a stellar season. The Saskatchewan Roughriders also managed to push through to the finals. This means that both “Roughrider” teams would make their way to the Grey Cup. These two teams held the top spot in their respective conference, giving a great championship game. In the end the Saskatchewan team was better than the Ottawa team and they managed to win the Grey Cup Championship.

The 1968 season was the CFL was the 15th season of Canadian Football and the 11th official season of the Canadian Football League. The league was still growing and changing as it was a relatively new league. The CFL chose a new commissioner to run the league. With the new commissioner the league also adopted a new constitution.
There were two conferences in the CFL that featured a total of 9 teams. There were 5 teams in the Western Football Conference and 4 teams in the Eastern Football Conference. The Western Football Conference featured the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos, BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Eastern Football Conference consisted of the Ottawa Rough Riders, Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes.
Each conference had teams that stood out from the rest of the competition in the regular season. This season happened to be the year of the Rough Riders, or Roughriders if you were from the Western Football Conference.
The Eastern Rough Riders from Ottawa managed to take the honors of the best regular season record in their conference. The finished with a record of 9-3-2 in their 14 game season. They outscored every team in the league despite the fact that the Western Conference played 2 more games than the Eastern Conference. They also had a solid defense. Over the course of the season they managed to outscore their opponents by more than 140 points.
The Toronto Argonauts finished 2nd in the division with a 9-5 record. They had a solid team, but they were not the dominant team that the Rough Riders were in the regular season. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would be the last playoff team in the Eastern Conference. They finished with a 6-7-1 record on the season. The Alouettes were last in the conference with a 3-9-2 record.
The Western Football Conference was led by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. They won more games than any team in the league. They finished with a 12-3-1 record. They allowed the fewest points in the league. This is impressive considering the Eastern Football Conference and their shorter schedule.
The Calgary Stampeders were second in the Western Conference with a 10-6 record. They were led by a strong defense and a strong offense. While they didn’t have quite as good of a record as the Roughriders, many people thought that they were equally dangerous.
The Eskimos finished 8-7-1 to grab the last playoff spot in the Western Football Conference. The BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers would finish as the two worst teams in the conference.
As the playoffs came, the Ottawa Rough Riders showed just how good they were, making their way to the Grey Cup. The Saskatchewan Roughriders weren’t quite so fortunate. The Stampeders were a tough team and managed to take out the Roughriders. They would go on to square off against Ottawa in the Grey Cup Championship game.
The Rough Riders proved to be too good in the end. They won the game 24-21 to become the Grey Cup Champs. Vic Washington was named the Grey Cup’s Most Valuable Player.
