Don’t you just love this time of year? Wait a minute… This isn’t the usual autumn Saturday in the NCAA ranks. The leftover unbeatens are now dropping from the top 5 as the 6-10 make their push in this merry-go-round with the pollers.
I believe we can determine now that it’s going to be a miracle to see anything over 1 undefeated team from major conferences. So now comes the speculation on who’s going to be there when the time comes to set the bowls, and better yet, who’s coming out on top of this poll?
Just to give you a quick glimpse of my own top 5 (I am a UGA fan, but no bias here)..
#5 USC – Back to their old defensive ways in a 28-0 rout of a major disappointment in an Arizona State team that was supposed to give the Pac-10 teams a run for their money. The 1-loss teams are now beginning to seep into the top 5 as the Trojans get back into title talks.
#4 Florida – After dismantling the LSU Tigers by 30, they are back on their feet again. Tebow and the Gators most certainly got the attention of the voters, persuading a few of them into believing that the 1 point loss to Ole Miss is a thing of the past and that they are legit in their chase for the BCS.
#3 Penn State – Has anybody gotten close to this team yet? Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) is creating a challenge as they are pushing Illinois, Wisconsin, and Oregon State aside as if they were playing a bunch of Pop Warner kids every Saturday. Not to forget that this is the same Oregon State club that downed USC a few weeks back, and the Nittany Lions take them by 31 points in week 2. If Joe Paterno is winding his career down here in the next year, you can’t find a better opportunity to send him off with a bang.
#2 Texas – Can’t quite give them a jump to #1 quite yet. It was a very poorly officiated game, but the Horns were able to finally breakthrough and keep OU at a distance. Colt McCoy’s speed threw off the Sooners, but their defense was burned pretty well by the Sam Bradford show. I need to see a little bit more from the Defensive squad before I can push them over this #1 team..
#1 Alabama – Crushing a Clemson team that was destined for an ACC crown, going into Georgia and embarrassing the Bulldogs in one of the toughest places to play, and piling up a 3-0 record in one of the roughest conferences you’ll see, the Crimson Tide deserve this top spot in next week’s polls. Their defense is absolutely monsterous. Don’t look at the 30 points against UGA.. That was a 2nd half letdown because the game was already out of reach, but outside of that, 14 points is the most they’ve allowed to anybody this season. John Parker Wilson adds a nice balance to this team along with the RB by committee with Coffee and Ingram. Until they go down, the Tide should be rolling easy in the top spot.
Only 1 team looks like a challenge on Alabama’s schedule, and that was the LSU team that just got torched against the Gators. It’s an easy road to the SEC title game, so destiny lies in their own hands. Texas can say the same thing because the Big 12 is the bigger of the Bigs with the Big 12 struggling with the OSU stomping by USC with Michigan belly up already.
With that said, I do hope Penn State goes unbeaten (with a schedule including that OSU team) with the others. That could only pile more controversy onto the BCS. Would it be enough to finally break the system and force it to a playoff format? I would hope so, since this is like the only collegiate arena that does not hold a postseason system. Just like Auburn was jobbed a few years back, one of these 3 teams has a fan base that will make enough noise to rattle up a controversy.
Playoff or not, we’re in for a crazy finish to the NCAA Football season, and we’re not even half-way through it yet!

NCAA 09 Football is the 12th installment in the series and comes with a huge array of game enhancements to please the collegiate league’s millions of fans. If you’re wondering whether you’ll have fun with NCAA 09 when you’ve sworn off its predecessors, here are several things that might just change your mind.
Feel the Crowd
You had your college shirt on, a cold beer on your hand, and you still couldn’t make yourself think of the game as authentic. Well, maybe, it’s because there’s one other essential factor that’s missing and that’s the dynamic crowd – yes it’s back. Now, NCAA 09, having taken your concern into consideration, offers users the chance to customize crowd reaction. You can make them roar during breakaways and you can make your mascots dance for touchdowns and game celebrations.
Last but not the least, crowds in the stadiums are louder and more dynamic, and NCAA 09 allows them to influence game results in certain situations.
Game Flexibility
Think back about the restrictions that chafed at you when you were playing any of the predecessors of NCAA 09. Did you feel like there weren’t as many opportunities as there should be for guys in the clear? Did you think the cutback lanes and holes for the offense smaller than they should be? What about passing? Did you **** how little you had control over it? How about bobble catches? Where were they? And what about shouting out commands during formations?
If these are the things that bothered you most in the past, you’ll be pleased to know that NCAA 09 has fixed all – yes, all – of those to give you the best college football game you can enjoy.
SIDE ENTERTAINMENT
Sure, yes, playing NCAA Football is fun, but it’s not something you live and breathe. Sometimes, you’re looking for fun without the pressure and EA has heard your prayers. With NCAA 09, there are a lot of mini-games you can divert yourself with while you’re waiting for the right time to suit up and enter the field. Some of the games even feature mascots, if that’s your thing.
OFFLINE COOPERATIVE PLAY
Not everyone is born with a competitive spirit. Many of us, in fact, have more fun when we work together rather than against each other. If you and your friends are looking for some great co-op action then look no further than NCAA 09.
With NCAA 09, you and three more players can join forces and form a united front against your virtual opponents.
THE ART OF DECEIT
NCAA Football won’t be what it is if there’s not an element of deceit being played. We’ve seen it happen again and again, games being lost and teams getting burnt because of stolen plays and leakages. In NCAA 09, make sure you’re on your guard because if you don’t know how to bluff, the player next to you could use your play call to your disadvantage.
ADDED ONLINE FEATURES
Lastly, NCAA 09 also shows improvement in the online front. Players no longer have to pay other people to change names because NCAA 09 now allows file sharing and the building of online dynasties.
Now that you know what to look forward to, are you still against NCAA 09 or are you raring to hit a touchdown?

College football fans have plenty to be excited about in Week Five, as the schedules are getting tougher and the conference rivals are starting to battle. NCAA football tickets for any one of these games would be a great idea, so make sure you you’re either at one of these games, or you have them all TiVo’d.
1. Georgia – Alabama: Saturday night you get the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs facing off against the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide. Considering the fact that UCS lost to Oregon State this week, there’s a distinct possibility that both of these teams could move up if they win. For Georgia, a No. 1 spot isn’t out of the question. Alabama might sneak into the top five. The game’s going down at Georgia’s Sanford Stadium, so we hope you have your Georgia Bulldogs football tickets. Most of the experts say that Georgia has the clear edge because they’re at home, but last year Georgia only won the game 26-23. We expect a close one.
2. Ohio State-Minnesota: Ohio State (No. 14) might enter the game with the high ranking, but they’ve already got a bad loss to a good team (their 35-3 drubbing at the hands of USC). The Trojans lost this week already, so that might not bode well for the Buckeyes if they’re trying to get placed based on strength of schedule. The Golden Gophers are 4-0, but the best team they’ve played was Northern Illinois in Week One. Still, Minny’s offense has been humming right along, so don’t expect them to just lay down and die when they face a team with a ranking.
3. Illinois-Penn State: You’ve got two ranked Big Ten teams in No. 22 Illinois and No. 12 Penn State, so how can you deny this game is the best in the NCAA? Fair question. However, since the game is in Happy Valley and Penn State owns the all-time record between these two teams by an incredible 11-0 (that’s right- Jo Pa has never been beaten by an Illini) we’re thinking that the Nittany Lions will cruise to an easy win.
4. Arkansas – Texas: Big 12 powerhouse Texas will come out swinging when they face Arkansas, a regional and cross-conference rival at their home in Austin. Texas comes into the game with an undefeated record, and they face Arkansas after their game was postponed the week previous to last because of the hurricane. Texas has a No. 7 ranking, and with USC already losing, and Georgia facing a tough challenge, they could vie for a top five spot if they can beat Arkansas, a team that lost badly to Alabama last week 14-49.
5. Purdue-Notre Dame: Here’s a rivalry game that might be interesting. Perdue is the second most common Notre Dame opponent all-time behind Navy, so there’s lots of history here. Purdue beat up on the lowly Irish last season, but so far Coach Charlie Weis has proven that ND isn’t the same 3-9 team like in 2007. Don’t fall asleep on this one, Boilermakers.

If you love college ball as much as I do, then I know you’re going to want to have all the latest gear from your favorite schools. So I recommend that you try shopping online for your official NCAA football products. With the money you save, you might even be able to attend a couple more games this season!
In addition to apparel, there are many other official NCAA football products that I can buy. For example, I like to collect sports memorabilia, and mini helmets are one of the hottest items in that area right now. Because they’re so popular, it can be hard to get your hands on one from your favorite school — if you insist on shopping at malls, that is.
I’ve never had any problems finding official NCAA football collectibles, including mini helmets, from even the most sought-after teams such as USC, Texas, and Notre Dame. Other popular collectibles include bobblehead figures of star players, mini footballs, and retro jerseys.
Along with convenience, there’s another very important reason that I choose to buy official NCAA football merchandise online: low prices. Regular stores with expensive leases and lots of employees just can’t offer the same discounted prices that online retailers can.
That means I can buy official NCAA football products whenever the mood strikes. I don’t have to wait for sales or save up my money for weeks and weeks to be able to afford what I want.
Most of my friends think the NFL is the best game in town, but I disagree. I’d take college ball over the pros any day because I prefer to watch athletes giving their maximum effort for school pride and love of the game rather than big-money contracts and shoe endorsements.
That’s why I make sure I support my favorite college teams by purchasing as much official NCAA football merchandise as I can and by attending as many games as possible.
As luck would have it, my favorite college teams are spread out all over the country. I like a couple of SEC teams, several Big 10 teams, and a few in the Pac-10. I obviously can’t go to all those different campuses whenever I want to buy fan apparel, so I shop for my official NCAA football gear online.
There are many sporting goods websites out there that are really involved in the college scene and offer a wide selection of products to choose from.
I definitely can’t get this kind of convenience at the local mall! So no matter what kind of official NCAA football items I need, I know I can get them all from a single website.
For example, I can purchase an authentic UCLA jersey, Wisconsin Badgers hoody, LSU jacket, and Florida State hat in one order from one website, and I can do all of this without even getting out of my chair. I can’t think of an easier way to buy official NCAA football apparel than that!
