After only two rounds of the Champions League group stage, Braga and Partizan Belgrade are already drinking in the last chance saloon in Group H.

Without a point to their names, they go head to head tomorrow in a match each must win to keep alive their hopes of progressing to the knockout phase – or, more likely, the consolation of a place in the Europa League.

While it is all relative when talking about back-to-back defeats, Partizan have had the better results so far, edged out 1-0 by Shakhtar Donetsk before giving Arsenal a game in a 3-1 loss, compared to Braga, who have conceded nine and scored none in losing to the same two teams.

Partizan midfielder Sasa Ilic knows the importance of the game, and has called on his team-mates to replicate their best performances of the tournament so far – including the qualifying round victory over Anderlecht, in which they went through on penalties after a pair of 2-2 draws.

“To achieve a positive result we will have to play to our best, like in Brussels or in certain periods of the games against Shakhtar and Arsenal,” he told the club’s official website.

“If we succeed, our ambition to play more European football in the spring will come true.”

Partizan go into the game on the back of a league victory that took them back to the top of the table, but may be concerned at the number of times they conceded in their 5-3 victory over FK Smederevo.

Braga, in contrast, suffered a 1-0 loss at Benfica, and remain hampered by a lengthy injury list, particularly at the back.

Goalkeeper Quim has already been lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles, while on-loan defender Leo Fortunato is suffering from a thigh injury and has not been training.

Fellow defenders Miguel Garcia, Paulao and Alberto Rodriguez are all at various stages of recovery from their own injuries, and tomorrow’s game could come too soon, while midfielder Mossoro has only just returned to training after a foot problem.

Football, one is frequently being reminded, is all about the old school. The grass roots, jumpers for goal posts, kids playing in the park after school, etc. It’s a salient point, particularly in the face of the national team’s latest calamitous showing. Forget the highly paid, one hears: let’s celebrate the passion of the “lower” divisions. Not something that was easy to do, even recently – but now, with the Internet fully fledged and sourcing kit from all over, a person can even buy for Football League clubs online.

There’s definitely been a bit of a tectonic shift, over the last couple of years, insofar as football support is concerned. Fans of the game are getting increasingly annoyed by the cavalier attitude the “top” clubs seem to have towards their own supporters: not to mention the questionable loyalty of their players, who have repeatedly hit back page headlines with contract breaking moves to whoever (and wherever) is willing to pay the most cash. When one’s star players are looking for tax breaks rather than team glory, one knows something has gone wrong. This is why this new availability of grass roots to the masses has come as something of a relief – a respite, if you like, from the rampant consumerism of the “top flight” game.

While Premier League clubs are leaking big name players like a sieve, or going into receivership because their “business” is faltering, the teams that occupy the league below the Premiership are going from strength to strength. Support, always huge, is growing to never before seen proportions as some of the more passionate affiliates of the top flight clubs either abandon “their” teams, or select a “second” side as recipients of their love. The first tokens of that love, same as ever, are the , which are bought in their hundreds of thousands by spectators longing to re-acquaint themselves with the real glory of football, rather than all this fairly sordid money making that seems to have gutted the top level game.

Prior to the Internet, things like Football League shirts were notoriously hard to source. Generally, one had to go in person to the ground of the club in question and patronise the team shop – which, inevitably, was only open during match-day hours. Now, though, the Internet allows even the most diluted supporter to get hold of grass roots from his or her home – which has resulted in a great wave of quality official replica shirts flooding the online market. Those clubs that are now providing the real excitement in the British game are fully represented in online stores like UK based , whose selection of kits covers all the major Football League heroes as well as their Premiership counterparts. The money goes to the clubs who need it – and who have deserved it, by playing and representing the game in a fashion that has started to make people sit up and take notice. The fans are happy; the passionate clubs are happy.

Football might not be coming home – not how the song wanted it to, anyway – but have found a new lease of life at least. Who knows: these may be the signs of a grass roots rising that will redirect English football to a better place.

Scottish Premier League (SPL) is a professional league competition for football clubs of the prime level in the Scottish football league system. It holds the tenth position in the UEFA rankings of European League. This position in the European league depends on the performance of member clubs in the European competitions. The current champion of the SPL title is Celtic.

In 1998, the football clubs in the Premier Division decided to separate from the Scottish Football League and to create the Scottish Premier League to get the maximum share of the league sponsorship money. The 12 clubs that now play in the leagues are Aberdeen FC, Celtic FC, Dundee United FC, Falkirk Gretna Heart of Midlothian FC, Hibernian FC, Inverness CT, Kilmarnock FC, Motherwell FC, Rangers FC, and St. Mirren.

          ]]>

These clubs of Scottish Premier League have largely continued to be on their own rules. Aberdeen got their third dressing kit, which reminds that they were called once as The Wasps, whereas the Falkirk’s new home kit honors their Scottish Cup win of 1957.

People usually refer the Premier League as the Barclays Premier League for certain financial reasons. The league is the nation’s major football championship. Twenty clubs play in this League, and SPL is one prime member of this championship.

For Fans of SPL:

The ideal way to know the venues and scores of SPL is to browse through the extremely interactive and high-speed web site or sports blog of SPL. This official web site tells about everything that a fan might ask in respect of SPL events and schedules, whereas the sports blog provides the opportunity for the visitors to blog.

The site also offers betting facilities for the online gamblers. They can bet on their favorite clubs in the League or purchase their favorite team’s products online. Merchandise arrays anywhere from charming women’s outfit decorated with the team symbol or a heavy jersey of men’s with the team’s cap.

With the fame of the innovative SPL, the League chairperson Lex gold, has suggested for a SPL too. However, this idea seems to be unpopular among the fans of both Scottish football League and SPL.

As always, the English Premier League is going to be a fantastic watch this season. Key fixtures involving top sides Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool sell out like hot cakes. English football enjoys a significant international reputation, thanks to the success of the Premier League and the scale of sponsorship it attracts. In 1992 the leading clubs in England’s Football league decided to break away from the 1st division, and the Premier League was formed.

The 1980′s was a low point in English football history, with hooliganism and a lack of investment in facilities contributing to the hard times faced by clubs Added to this, English teams were banned from European competitions after the tragic events at the Heysel stadium when riots by English fans led to 39 deaths. Following the Hillsborough tragedy, all football clubs in England were required to make their grounds all-seated, at significant cost.

Realising that they could not meet these costs alone, the top ten clubs broke away from the Football league and sold TV rights to Sky. The new league was very popular, despite fans having to pay to watch their teams on TV, and the move created enormous wealth. The new league was very popular with fans, despite having to pay to watch their team on TV for the first time, and significant financial rewards were reaped by all involved. Carling, Barclaycard and Barclays Bank have all sponsored the competition.

          ]]>

Having broken away to make more money as valuable commodities, the Premier League clubs are now criticised for spending so much on their players. With more money available following the formation of the new league, clubs are now criticised for spending too much on their players. Clubs invest significant sums in transfer fees and wages for the best players, making football an expensive business. Several clubs have struggled with finance and in February 2010 Portsmouth went into administration. Not all clubs have been successful in the finance stakes, and in February 2010, Portsmouth FC went into administration.

The League’s most successful club is Manchester United, under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson. Always a top three finisher, Manchester United have won the Premier League 11 times. Last season however, Chelsea won through to beat them in a dramatic Premier League final. In a dramatic finale to last year’s championship, Chelsea overcame a strong United challenge to win the league.

Defending their title against all their old adversaries, the spotlight is now on Chelsea. Can Chelsea defend their title against their old adversaries? Chelsea vs Manchester United tickets will be in great demand. Everything is at stake and anything could happen at this early stage in the competition. All is to play for and an upset could be significant at this early stage of the competition. The entertainment value of the Premier League provides excitement, heated discussions and high emotions for months on end. The Premier League provides great entertainment for months on end, with heated discussions and high emotions keeping fans excited. The antics of the players and managers, both on and off the pitch, keep everyone entertained. There is much enjoyment to be had, watching the antics of the players and managers, both on and off the pitch.

But nothing can beat the thrill of being at a world class Premier League match, watching the best teams, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool, demonstrating the art of the beautiful game. Nothing can compare with the thrill of watching world class players, in the best teams, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool, demonstrating the art of the beautiful game in the Premiership. Make sure you don’t miss out on tickets to big matches such as Manchester United vs Chelsea or Liverpool vs Arsenal. Get your hands on the tickets for the big matches such as Liverpool vs Arsenal and Manchester United vs Chelsea.

Two deals that have already shocked the footballing world were made by the same Spanish league football club, Real Madrid. On 8th June 2009, Real Madrid completed the signing of Brazilian Kaka, for a world record breaking fee of £56 million, beating their previous world record transfer of £46 million for Zinedine Zidane from Juventus back in 2001.

If that wasn’t a statement of intent, three days later, they had a bid of £80 million accepted by Manchester Utd for World and European Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. The player is keen to join Real Madrid and the move is expected to be completed by the end of June 2009.

Over the past five seasons, the Sky 4 English clubs (Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal) have all dominated the European football scene. Liverpool (winners 2005, runners up 2007), Arsenal (finalists 2006), Manchester Utd (winners 2008, finalists 2009) and Chelsea (finalists 2008) show their strength in the competition.

So it really comes as a shock that Real Madrid, who last won the Champions League way back in 2002 are able to outlay these two massive record breaking fees within a week.

Their performances in their own league have been poor in comparison to their great forebears (they’ve only won their league 3 times in the past 11 years, which by their standards is very poor) and they have often struggled in the Champions League of late.

By taking the world’s greatest player in Ronaldo from their great rivals Man Utd, really puts out a statement of intent from Real Madrid. They will at least on paper, look a real force and with Kaka in their midfield, they promise to get back to the former great Galatico era of the nineties.

From a league perspective, it could have further ramifications. Players who would otherwise automatically aim to head for the English Premiership, may now be having second thoughts as they see these two great players head for Spain. Certainly the money in Spain (in terms of wages) isn’t as great as in England, but that may be secondary for many players whose first aim is to play football.

In the week leading up to the transfers, Steven Pienaar, a top player for 5th placed Everton has made noises about wanting to move to Spain sometime in the future. The Spanish league is well renowned for being a technical league, as opposed to the high octane, high tempo Premier League, and this fact may further tempt the more skilful player away from English shores.

The net effect of course, will be a lowering of standards in the English league and the dominance of the aforementioned Sky 4 will slowly wilt as the Spanish clubs fight back. In fact one Spanish club already has fought back by beating Manchester Utd in the 2009 Champions League final.

Ironically, this could save the English Premiership from really becoming stagnant as the same four clubs have finished in the top four spots for the majority of the 2000′s. It has become boring and predictable. With Utd losing their top player, and the fact they have big debts to pay may mean their manager will not get the full £80 million to spend. Liverpool, whose American owners are in serious financial trouble, may have to sell assets and become weaker, while Arsenal have never really been able to keep up financially with the others. It’s only Chelsea who still looks strong and no doubt will strengthen again.

Will the balance of power shift to Spain? Next season we will find out.

Calvin Edwin “Cal” Ripken, Jr. (born August 24, 1960), nicknamed “Iron Man” for remaining in the lineup despite numerous minor injuries and for his reliability to show up to work every day, is a former Major League Baseball shortstop and third baseman. He played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Baltimore Orioles (1981–2001). He is perhaps best known for breaking New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig’s record for consecutive games played, a record many deemed unbreakable. Ripken surpassed the 56-year-old record when he played in his 2,131st consecutive game on September 6, 1995 between the Orioles and the California Angels in front of a sold-out crowd at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

To make the feat even more memorable, Ripken hit a home run in the previous night’s game that tied Gehrig’s record and another home run in his 2,131st game, which fans later voted as Major League Baseball’s “Most Memorable Moment” in MLB history. Ripken played in an additional 502 straight games over the next three years, and his streak ended at 2,632 games when he voluntarily removed his name from the lineup for the final Orioles home game of the 1998 season. His record 2,632 straight games spanned over seventeen seasons, from May 30, 1982 to September 20, 1998. -Wikipedia.org

9. Joe Jackson

Joseph Jefferson Jackson (July 16, 1887 – December 5, 1951), nicknamed “Shoeless Joe”, was an American baseball player who played Major League Baseball in the early part of the 20th century. He is remembered for his performance on the field and for his association with the Black Sox Scandal, in which members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox participated in a conspiracy to fix the World Series. As a result of Jackson’s association with the scandal, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Major League Baseball’s first commissioner, banned Jackson from playing after the 1920 season.

Jackson played for three different Major League teams during his 12-year career. He spent 1908–09 as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics and 1910 with the minor league New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to Cleveland at the end of the 1910 season. He remained in Cleveland through the first part of the 1915; he played the remainder of the 1915 season through 1920 with the Chicago White Sox. -Wikipedia.org

Jeter debuted in the Major Leagues in 1995, and the following year he won the Rookie of the Year Award and helped the Yankees win the 1996 World Series. Jeter was also a member of championship-winning teams in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009. In 2000, Jeter became the only player in history to win both the All-Star Game MVP Award and the World Series MVP Award in the same year. He has been selected as an All-Star eleven times, won the Silver Slugger award four times, and he has won the Gold Glove award on five occasions.

He is regarded as a consummate professional, by teammates and opponents alike, and has a reputation as a reliable contributor in the postseason. Jeter is considered to be one of the best players of his generation. He is the all-time hits leader among shortstops and his .317 career batting average through the 2009 season ranks as the fifth-highest among active players. He has been among the American League (AL) leaders in hits and runs scored for the past ten years. He is the all-time Yankees hit leader, passing Hall of Fame member Lou Gehrig in 2009. -Wikipedia.org

Ruth was a mainstay in the Yankees’ lineup that won seven pennants and four World Series titles during his tenure with the team. After a short stint with the Boston Braves in 1935, Ruth retired.

There is one game that deserves more attention than others do. This is not a computer or a child game; this is one extremely amazing sport. It is filled with a lot of emotions and magnificent performance. Its name is football. This is the sport renowned from the whole world.

Tournaments and championships are part of that great game. European, African, American, Asian and World cups on national level are included. As the international cups, there are others on a club level. The most famous of them are the English, Spanish, German, Italian, Danish, Russian, Brazilian, Scottish and many others. The first four of them are the strongest and most watched.

In my opinion, the best is the English one. This championship is called premier league. There you can find excellent football players, who can do whatever they want with the ball. Unforgettable tricks, ball possession, extraordinary force, significant speed and perfect given passes, that is the style of the all participants in this tournament. Moreover, the biggest and hardest clashes are exactly there, where the competitions are with the highest cost. There every each team can win or loose the match, because the forces are equal. Exactly for that reason, I want to show some of these great teams.

In the premier league, the clubs are twenty, but the first one that will be presented, is Manchester United. At this moment and in the last 20 years this is the team, which dominates in the English championship. From its creation until now, it has won eighteen titles, eleven from them in the period 1990-2010. As impressive as it looks, the way of accomplishing each cup was extraordinary. Indeed, in these years of full leadership Man United met difficulties only from the teams of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. These four teams are fighting for the first place in the last twenty years.

One of the most entitled teams in England is Liverpool. Three years ago, that was the club with biggest number of won English cups, but now they have 18 so has Manchester United. In spite of that, they still keep the record of won titles in the Champion League, whereas is the battlefield of militant from all countries in Europe.

Another team that in the last ten years has enormous fluency in the fight for the first place in Premier League is Chelsea. It was purchased in 2001 year from the billionaire Roman Abramovich. That was the beginning of one amazing development of this team, which now participates even in the European scene.

Arsenal is the club with players who possess excellent technique. This is the team with the most beautiful game in the English championship.
